City of London

School for girls

Co-curricular sport at City is an integral part of the pupils learning, socialising, health and mental wellbeing. We pride ourselves on the opportunities we can offer, ensuring a diverse programme that allows competitive sport for teams and individuals as well as recreational activities for all to attend.

Our facilities include an all-weather pitch, tennis and netball courts, dance studio, swimming pool, gym, climbing wall and fitness suit. Being in the heart of the City of London, we are able extend the classroom to use the local facilities around us, such as Mile End Athletics Stadium, Hampstead Heath, Boom Cycle, Frame and the Golden Lane sports facility. We are always looking for new opportunities and initiatives to offer pupils.

As a school, we enter a wide range of local and National competitions as well as competing against local schools in competitive, but friendly fixtures (see our Fixtures tab). The competitive sports on which we focus are Swimming, Gymnastics, Netball, Football, Cross country, Athletics, Fencing and Cricket (see Sporting Success tab). Teams range from A-E depending on the year group and sport. We give every pupil the opportunity to try out and play for a team in the sport they desire no matter what year group they are in.

If pupils don’t wish to play for squads but would like some competitive element to their sport we also offer a wide range of inter-house competitions allowing all pupils to get involved and make a positive contribution to the sporting life of the school.
