In addition to the above, pupils choose between two and four extra areas of academic study per year to explore for at least one and a half terms of timetabled lessons each. There is a broad selection of subjects and activities on offer, including our two prep orchestras, creative arts, iPad, Greek mythology and culture, debating, young curators and ocarina. The pupils also get involved in cooking and baking. While the prep wing is where the pupils spend most of their time, they also use the senior school facilities and some lessons are taught by senior school teachers.
There are also numerous day excursions and visits to libraries, exhibitions, museums and theatre companies. Prep also have very close links with the Barbican Library, Museum of London and Guildhall Art Gallery, City of London Police. A wide variety of extra-curricular activities is also offered during lunchtimes and after school, some run by senior girls or sixth formers as well as staff. Throughout a pupil's time in the preparatory department, they will be required to attend four residential trips of between two and five days in duration. These trips are based in field study centres and focus on environmental education, archaeology and classics, art, literature and French.
In the preparatory department and the senior school, individual music lessons are available on a wide variety of instruments. Pupils can also take part in small ensemble and music groups.
