Flaine, France 2016
The two-day event, held on Monday 25th January and Tuesday 26th January 2016, features racers from over 35 schools across the UK. The British Schoolgirls’ Racesplay a vital role in giving aspiring racers the chance to be part of well-organised on snow races, which is important for growing confidence and giving the young racers valuable competitive experience.
The event is open to all UK schools and has racers from a range of age groups, including under 14s, under 16s and under 18s. All age groups compete in GS and Slalom races, and there is also the chance for schools to go head to head in Parallel Slalom.
Annabel Gunn did really well coming 30th overall in the Giant Slalom and 73rd in Slalom. Unfortunately Rosa Gordon was a DNF in Giant Slalom but finished reasonably well in the Slalom, while Isabel Donaldson finished 90th in GS but was a DNF in Slalom. The A team reached the quarter finals for the first time and the girls finished a respectable 30th out of 51. The B team girls, Daisy and Lola Avis-Ward and Eleanor Wilkins finished very close to each other in Giant Slalom but sadly neither Lola nor Eleanor finished the Slalom so the team did not qualify for a team result.
Well done girls!
