City gymnasts take their place on the podium

On Wednesday 11 March, 24 gymnasts competed in the regional round of the Acrobatics and Tumbling at Sutton High School.

The teams all performed their routines with excellent timing and demonstrated some fantastic group balances. All the teams ended on the podium in their respective age groups, with the U11A and U14A groups qualifying to represent London at the National Acrobatics Finals. In the afternoon, Marie and Clara competed in the individual tumbling competition. They finished 5th and 7th respectively.

Two days later, the U13 Team comprising of Clara , Rivga , Marie and Kate travelled to Stoke on Trent to represent the London Region at the National Finals for the Milano Trio Competition. This competition is always extremely tightly contested, with the highest level school gymnasts in the country competing.  The girls performed on vault, on floor and in a trio acrobatics routine. Both City and Surbiton High School represented London at this final so there was a chance for us, together, to medal as a Region.  This was extremely close between the South East, South, London and the East. The girls from London managed to win the bronze medal. An outstanding finish for the team.

The City team also scored the 2nd highest mark in the Country for their group routine.  A huge achievement. Congratulations to all the gymnasts!
