On Monday 16 March, the Junior Maths Team from Year 8 and Year 9 went to City of London School for the day to compete in the UKMT Regional Finals. During the day, we competed against 25 other schools for a place in the National Finals. There were four rounds in total: Team Challenge, Crossword, Shuttle, and Relay.
One of the main challenges was the crossword, which included one pair getting the across clues, and the other getting the down clues and having to use the opposite team's numbers for their own benefit. It was interesting to take part in such a competitive environment. The main thing the day taught us as sportsmanship and teamwork. It was fun to make new friends from different schools and know more about their way of learning. We really enjoyed observing the other students' dedication and drive throughout the competition. In the end, we placed 2nd overall and appreciated our experience.
