On Wednesday 29 January, the Chinese students from Year 8 went to the British Film Institute for a day to participate in an interactive workshop. We learnt how to write an array of characters to do with the film industry, and answered questions about many Chinese films.
After working hard in the morning, we had the fantastic opportunity to watch the Chinese documentary “Please vote for me”, about a group of childrens' campaign to be voted as Class Monitor. The film documented the first year that Class Monitors were appointed democratically, as opposed to being selected by the teacher. I really enjoyed observing the determination and perseverance the children had throughout their journey, and how they remained strong even after being pressurised and discouraged by their peers. We had a wonderful day, and really enjoyed practicing our Chinese!
