UK Space Design Competition

On Saturday 7th December a team of Y12 and 13 Physics students took part in the UK Space Design Competition at Imperial College London.

On arrival our students were placed in team made up of 5 other schools, making a super team of about 50 students. Together they had to design a space settlement near the Asteroid Belt.

The space settlement needed to mine resources from the Asteroid Belt, while providing a home for 4000 astronauts.  The team, called 'Vulture' worked tirelessly from early in the morning until 5:30pm - the deadline for handing in their presentation to the judges.

After a break for dinner (pizza), students then presented their design to the audience and the panel of judges.

Congratulations to the team for working so hard throughout the day.  They were unfortunate not to make to the finals on this occasion, but there is always next year!
