Record Number of Students Awarded Engineering Scholarship

More than 400 of the country’s most talented students were honoured at ceremonies in London and Edinburgh this month, as they received scholarships from one of the UK’s leading engineering programmes. Students hand-picked from across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland achieved a coveted Arkwright Engineering Scholarship award.

This year, in Year 12, we have four successful Arkwright scholars - a record number for the school. Huge congratulations to Caitlin, Alexa, Aishani and Kioni, who were all presented with an annual financial award, as well as enrichment activities such as mentoring and industry visits that will enhance their experience of engineering in a real-world context.

Scholars were selected for their potential as future engineering leaders by assessing their academic, practical and leadership skills in engineering disciplines. These were gauged through a selection process comprising of an assessed application form including a teacher’s reference; a two-hour, problem-solving aptitude exam; and a university-based interview.
