On Monday 11 November, Year 10 Classics students went on a day trip to Oxford. After a marathon coach journey, we arrived at the Ashmolean (the first University museum in the world), where we looked around the Greek and Roman galleries.
There were lots of casts of famous statues and ancient artefacts. Then we visited the 'Last Supper in Pompeii' exhibition, which was fascinating - there was even food that had been preserved in the eruption.
We then went to see the college of an old City Girl who explained to us how the college system works and her experience studying Classics, which she seemed to really enjoy. Then we stopped for a break and had some nice lunch in the covered market. In the afternoon, we visited Brasenose College, where we had a talk with a fascinating professor of Classics. It was a great trip!!
