Congratulations to Eloise, Year 12, and Ines, Year 10, who have both gained places in the prestigious National Youth Orchestra!
Ines said: “I was overjoyed to find out that I’ve gained a place in the violin section of the NYO-GB 2020! There was a lot of preparation in lead up to the final round of auditions. I performed two contrasting pieces, a selection of orchestral excerpts and had a short interview. Unlike other auditions, there was an additional group round where we were required to lead the ensemble. It was very nerve wracking especially since I was grouped with four older girls who I thought played splendidly.
I am very much looking forward to meeting the rest of the musicians and spending the next year making beautiful music together. I am also excited about bringing orchestral music to teenagers around the country as part of the NYO Inspire project. Most of all, I am thrilled at the prospect of performing in the BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall this summer!”
