On Wednesday 19 June, a group of seven girls from Years 8 and 9 took part in a ‘Building the Future’ LEGO workshop at the City Centre.
The workshop started with a competition to build the tallest tower out of LEGO, done in one group of three and one group of four. The smaller CLSG group narrowly won with an 84cm tower. They may have spent too much time making their tower look ‘pretty’ and symmetrical. The tower of the group of four unfortunately broke while building, despite their strong base and structure.
The second challenge was to build the longest bridge out of LEGO. Thanks to Mrs Shufflebotham's creative idea of making a suspension bridge, the CLSG group of three won with a bridge of a whopping 125cm - longer than the table itself!
The workshop, although short, was extremely fun and we learned a lot of new skills about the physics of construction. Both CLSG teams did extremely well. Well done all!
