On Thursday 6 June, the U13 Team of Allegra, Mei, Caitlin and Rishon travelled to Stoke-on-Trent to represent the London Region at the English Schools National Finals.
This is a new competition run by the English Schools Gymnastics Association, which has been set up alongside the British Schools Gymnastics Association. The aim is to provide a pathway for novice-level gymnasts, who are then able to progress from English Schools to British Schools in the future.
Both the English Schools and British Schools Gymnastics Association run in the same format. The gymnasts must first compete in the Regional competition, and then the first and second placed teams move forward to represent London at National Finals.
The team performed a pair routine and an individual routine on the floor and a vault. The scores are then added to give a team total. The girls had been working extremely hard, training before school since September and their hard work paid off when they were announced as silver medallists. An outstanding achievement and congratulations to the team!
This competition completes the Gymnastics season for 2018 – 2019. 27 teams have competed in 11 competitions with teams from U9 right through to U19 . City have finished the year with three medals at National Finals. Huge congratulations to all the Gymnasts who have competed this year.
