A large group of Year 9 students completed the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh award expedition section on 2 and 3 June.
The girls had to put into practice all of the training from their previous expedition. Although the planned routes were around 16 km on day one, quite a few groups covered more and enjoyed a scenic tour on the New Forest. The groups who navigated accurately finished around 6pm, with slower groups completing day one almost three hours later. Pasta and sauce seemed to be the popular choice for the evening meal, and the girls took pride in the range of combinations they had created.
Day two was a bit shorter, at around 10 km, and we were all finished by 4.15pm. There were some outstanding examples of teamwork shown, with one group in particular showing a lot of flexibility and care in looking after each other.
Well done to all of the girls who took part - all of them passed.
A very big thank you to the staff: Ms Hotchkiss, Ms Ryder, Mr Tomlinson, Mr Thorne and Mr Aldridge who gave up part of their Half Term break to support the trip.
