Announcement of new Headmistress 2014

The Governors are delighted to announce the appointment of Mrs Ena Harrop as Headmistress of City of London School for Girls with effect from the Summer Term 2014. The selection panel of Governors and Chief Officers of the Corporation were unanimous in their decision.

The Governors are delighted to announce the appointment of Mrs Ena Harrop as Headmistress of City of London School for Girls with effect from the Summer Term 2014. The selection panel of Governors and Chief Officers of the Corporation were unanimous in their decision.

During the past three and a half years, Mrs Harrop has made an exceptional contribution to the school as Director of Studies, and a member of Miss Vernon’s Senior Management Team.  She has lead the teaching and learning agenda with vision and rigour. Her appointment will ensure that the school continues to take its place as one of the top schools in the country.

Prior to joining CLSG, Mrs Harrop was head of Modern Foreign Languages at the Royal Grammar School, Guildford, for five years.

Mrs Harrop is an exceptional linguist. English is her third language, after her native Spanish and French. She is an outstanding academic, having left Salamanca University with a first class degree in Classics, she then achieved an MA at Munich University, followed by an MPhil in Classics at Cambridge. Mrs Harrop studied for her PGCE at the Institute of Education in London and whilst she has been at City she has concluded her MA in Education Management at King’s College, London. She is also married with three young daughters.
