City gymnasts reach National Finals for third consecutive year

On Friday 7 December, the U11, U13, U16 and U19 teams competed in the Regional round of the Team Trio competition.  The gymnasts all perform an individual floor routine, two vaults and an Acrobatic trio routine.  The scores from the three events combine to give a team total, with the top two teams in the region qualifying for National Finals.

Our U13 and U16 teams competed in the morning.  They were up against some extremely tough competition from Surbiton and Streatham and Clapham.  The U13 team finished in 5th position, only 0.7 away from a medal place with the U16’s finishing in 3rd.  The U11’s and U19’s competed in the afternoon.  This was the first competition ever for some of the U11 team, but they showed no signs of nerves.  They finished in 3rd place behind Bute House and Surbiton, who have both been National Champions, showing how high the level of Gymnastics is in the London Region.

The U19 team knew that they needed to make no errors to fight off competition from LEH and Streatham and Clapham.  They ended their competition with an outstanding trio routine scoring enough to make them Regional Champions.  They will now go on to represent the London Region at the National Finals in March.

Huge congratulations to all the gymnasts involved who train tirelessly before school to learn all their routines for these competitions.
