Last Thursday morning, we had to be at the airport really early (5am!) to catch our flight to Düsseldorf. Once we arrived, we went straight to Cologne Cathedral, the largest gothic church in northern Europe. From there, we went to a large Christmas market in Cologne, where we had a chance to practise our German and also buy lots of handmade crafts and tasty street foods (my favourite was the Lebkuchen!).
On Friday, we went to a castle and learned about the special infrastructure of the castles there and the previous rulers of Germany. From there, we met our German pen pals, exchanged small gifts and interviewed each other and looked around a smaller Christmas market in Koblenz, where we attempted Frau Humphrey's selfie game!
At the end of each day we went on a trip to the supermarket, which was definitely one of our favourite parts! However, for me, the best day was when we went to Phantasialand, a theme park and had four hours to go on whichever rides we wanted. The queues were not too long and the rides were really fun. Overall, we really enjoyed the trip! Big thanks to Frau Lehner for organising the trip and to Mrs Brown and Frau Humphreys for accompanying.
