VEX Robotics Competition

Friday 16 November saw our school host the VEX Robotics City of London Next Level Regional Competition.

Twelve visiting teams of roboteers from six schools across London competed with four of our Year 8 and Year 9 teams in the competition, with places at the National Finals at stake. Our teams took part with enthusiasm and showed some great driving skill, but unfortunately did not make the top of the leader board.

The Teamwork Finals in the afternoon were tense and resulted in a rerun for the top four teams. Finally, we saw APS Bumble Bee and Valyrian Steel crowned as the Teamwork champions, representing Alexander Park School and Grieg City Academy. The highest ranked CLSG team in the Teamwork Challenge were Mission Apollo from Year 8, who finished fifth. They were followed by KiNeMaticS in sixth, with our other two teams 5 Seconds of Science and Trial and Error in joint seventh. There was good news however, for our Year 9 team KiNeMaticS, who won the Design Award for their design work.

A hearty well done to all our robot team participants.
