We were treated to an inspiring evening of music on Thursday 27 September, with two concerts by the Music Scholars at CLSG. The first concert, held in the Main Hall, was accompanied by new piano teacher Dr Shu-Wei Tseng and was a treat for the audience. We heard strong performances from the three new Year 7 Scholars (Shean, Agatha and Eliza) and expressive, mature playing by our Year 8 and Year 10 Scholars.
The second concert, at St. Giles’ Cripplegate, revealed how much progress our older Scholars have made over their time at CLSG, with some outstanding interpretations of challenging works. The programme included a movement from Beethoven’s D Major Violin Concerto, and a premiere of a new work by Year 13 Scholar, Dusa, who dedicated the piece to former CLSG music teacher, Mr Stokes, who retired last year.
We were treated to a thrilling end to the evening with a performance of a virtuosic Debussy work, played by Year 13 Scholar Nicole. Thanks to all the teachers who prepared students for the evening, the staff that accompanied and the appreciative audience.
