On Friday 1 December, four teams from City competed in the British Schools Milano Team Competition.
Each gymnast performed a group sequence and an individual floor and a vault, with the scores combined to give a team total. There was a mixture of nerves and excitement as the U11 and U13 gymnasts performed. Despite a fall in the U11 group routine the team finished a creditable 5th position. The U13s performed extremely well in the group sequence to finish their competition in 2nd position, qualifying to represent the London Region at National Finals in March.
In the afternoon, the U16 and U19 teams competed. The U16 category was the largest with ten schools competing. A wobble in the U16 group balance meant that the girls finished just outside of the medals in 4th position. The U19 team performed well in the group routine and on vault. A special mention to Giulia Laghezza, Year 9, who had to step in at the last minute to perform a vault and floor routine for this age group despite being three years younger than the other gymnasts in the category. The team finished in 2nd position, only 0.5 from the winning team, and will join the U13 team at the National Finals! Huge congratulations to all the gymnasts involved.
