English Schools National Cross Country Champions

On 24 November, seven members of the City Cross Country Team (the inter team: Year 9 and 10) woke up early on a Saturday once again, and travelled up to Sevenoaks school to compete in the English Schools National Cross Country Championship.

A total of 589 schools participated in the entire process, but only 27 schools made it through regional qualifiers to compete at the national finals, us being one of them. The course was a very pretty but equally challenging one, with lots of painful up and downhills within the forest. However, once the race began we pushed through the pain trying to overtake as many people as possible because every point counts. We all ran really well, and were absolutely exhausted at the end, however, it really paid off because we were later announced the National Champs winning by just one point, which really goes to show that every place does matter!

A massive congratulations to all girls on the team and a huge thank you to Miss Khosla, Cornelia and lastly Mrs Helm for putting up with us and supporting us so early in the morning!
