To celebrate Computer Science Week, the Prep department and some Year 8 students have been participating in the Hour of Code. The campaign is a worldwide effort to celebrate computer science, starting with 1-hour coding activities and expanding to all sorts of community efforts. The Hour of Code is supported by over 400 partners and 200,000 educators across the globe.
The students were set the challenge of designing and coding their own Google logo, or Google Doodle, using the programming language Scratch. They used their creativity and imagination to bring the Google logo to life using code, by making the letters dance, or even creating a game. Google Doodles are special logos that appear on the Google homepage. They celebrate holidays, anniversaries, and the lives of famous artists, pioneers and scientists.
