New Scientist Live Event

On Friday 29 September, Sixth Form chemists travelled to the Excel Centre for the New Scientist Live event - an exciting festival of science and technology. We spent the day attending lectures and stalls encompassing five different scientific fields; Astronomy, Engineering, Technology, Medicine and Biology.

Visiting the stalls was a great chance to engage with different aspects of our A-level subjects, as well as to interact with pioneers of new technologies and developments. There were many eye-catching and exciting concepts on show, including new software that tracks the outbreaks of disease by analysing Google searches for symptoms, and a detector that can ‘smell’ disease and therefore diagnose in a non-invasive, harmless manner.

The trip was a brilliant opportunity for us to discuss our scientific knowledge with experts in their field, and to learn more about the ground-breaking advancements we may be a part of in the future.
