The new Music at City series of concerts kicked off on Friday evening last week with a fantastic recital by world class pianist Andreas Boyde.
Hailed by critics as “Monsieur 100,000 Volts”, Andreas Boyde’s performances have electrified audiences worldwide. Regularly playing with major world orchestras including the London Philharmonic, Bolshoi Symphony, Malaysian Philharmonic, among many others, and with a busy recording schedule, he is much in demand. On Friday he took us through a wonderful programme of Beethoven, Debussy and Schumann.
Six City girls played to Mr Boyde during an afternoon masterclass prior to the recital and were treated to a great deal of insight from the German pianist.
The recital was the first professional outing for our new Steinway grand piano and was thrilling, particularly the colours Mr Boyde brought from the piano in the Images by Debussy, and the virtuosic display in Schumann's Carnaval.
We look forward to the next three Music at City events coming up over the rest of the year. To find out more about upcoming concerts and recitals, take a look at what's on on our website.
