On Friday 23rd September, the U13 A&B teams embarked on an exciting trip to Condover Hall, an annual netball tour in Shrewsbury.
We were in high spirits throughout the journey, and arrived to a very warm welcome by the staff there. After settling down, we were welcome to try many fun activities such as high ropes, trapeze, abseiling and zorbing, which most of us had never tried before.
On Saturday, we set off for Shrewsbury Sports Village, where our tournament was due to start. We played steadily as a team for our first few games, and stayed optimistic despite not winning the matches. However, our driving, shooting, and channels began to improve during the last few games and we managed to outsmart the other teams, winning our matches.
On Sunday we stayed positive all the time and kept our spirits high in the hope of winning a match. Even though we didn't manage a win at first, we got more confident with our shooting and the scores became a lot closer. We improved our tactics along our way and at the end our centre passes were fast and slick so we kept the ball until each goal. The weekend was closing in and it ended with a high for the B team as we finally won our last game and left back for London with smiles on our faces.
Overall, Condover Hall was a great experience for all of us. Our netball skills improved greatly and we met some netball superstars who we looked up to, including the current captain of the England netball team! Although there were some moments where our hopes were lowered, we carried on fighting all the way through and we are pleased with what we achieved. We are also incredibly thankful towards Miss Stephens and Miss Castell for sacrificing their weekend to accompany us on this netball trip and we hope they enjoyed it as much as we did.
