Senior Swim Squad Making a Splash

On Tuesday 4th October, City Senior Swim Squad had their first fixture of the season against Francis Holland Regents Park.

This was the first gala for the new year 7's and with London League looming it was an important one for the girls to demonstrate their competitive swimming ability.

The City girls swam fantastically! We had some key swimmers missing however the rest of the team stepped up and produced some lovely swimming.

The gala started with the backstroke events. Lily and Annie in year 8 and Caitlin and Lou in year 9, came 1st and 2nd in their age group.

Breaststroke was up next and again we produced some excellent swims, taking a clean sweep of 1st and 2nd place.

Kaya and Sofia-Nur in year 7, Emilie and Maia in year 8 and Connie and Emma in year 9. Next was butterfly Emilie and Annie in year 8 again took 1st and 2nd place and so did Caitlin and Ione in Year 9.

The final individual race of the night was front crawl. Sofia-Nur came 1st for year 7 and Gemma came 1st in year 9.

We ended the night with the relay events, starting with the medley relay followed by the front crawl relay.

All 3 year groups took 1st place!

So the end result for the girls was: Year 7: City 29 vs Francis Holland 25 Year 8: City 25 vs Francis Holland 20 Year 9: City 29 vs Francis Holland 19 Overall City won 83 - 64. Well done to all who swam!
