UniverCity: advice for year 12s

On 21 January, year 12s seeking advice about undergraduate applications to competitive universities were able to seek counsel from alumni from CLSG and several partner schools, as part of a dedicated webinar: 'What I did in year 12'.

The event brought together pupils from CLSG, CLS, City of London Academy (Southwark) and Oasis Academy South Bank to benefit from a short presentation about making applications for competitive undergraduate courses including Oxbridge and Medical School, followed by advice from alumni from across the schools about their own experiences.

One year 12 attendee tells us she "found the talk really useful in that it gave a brief overview of the level required to get into top universities. I also liked that there was a broad panel of different people studying different subjects". Another attendee agreed, singling out the "range of perspectives shown" during the evening.

On Tuesday 2 February from 4.00-9.30pm, there will be another valuable opportunity for year 12s to make headway on those post-school decisions. City's careers department will host representatives from the UK’s top universities for our first virtual Higher Education Evening. Over the course of the evening, students and parents from the family of city schools will have a chance to hear from a wide range of subject area perspectives (can I study design engineering at Imperial’s Dyson School? Asking for a friend), providing an insight into what each subject might be like to study at degree level. It promises to be an engaging and informative evening.
