All pupils were off-timetable this Wednesday to unwind and recharge with a Pastoral Day. After registration, all pupils explored the idea of their "inner voice - champion or gremlin?" in a coaching activity led by Head of Coaching, Mr Murray. Following this, students reflected on their own learning through written learning reviews and 1:1 chats with their form tutors.
The afternoon was all about an array of optional sessions including a webinar with school counsellor Chris Nancarrow on Managing Uncertainty; a yoga session with Miss Khosla; and a lesson on crafting a tote bag from a t-shirt from Mrs Mapstone. For years 7, 8, and 9, there was also the option of an hour-long dance workshop with Layton Williams, the dancer and actor known for his performances in TV show Bad Education, and lead role in the West End musical Everyone's Talking About Jamie. After learning one of the ‘iconic’ Jamie routines, students asked Layton questions about his life and career. He shared his thoughts on being the first black Billy Elliot to getting his coat stuck in his wig whilst playing the lead in Rent. It was a much appreciated inspirational, energetic and uplifting almost-end to lockdown learning.
