Given the circumstances, this year’s House Drama competition moves away from the stage and on to the screen. Under the guidance of professional filmmaker, Michelle Tofi, houses will make their own short-film inspired by the title Alone/Together. The screening of the films will be on 16 October with awards being given for Best Director, Best Actor, Best Editing, Best Costume and Best Film.
On 14 September, to prepare them for this challenge, students were treated to a filmmaking workshop led by Tofi. Two attendees, Scarlett and Daisy from year 11, gave it this five star review: “Michelle took us through all aspects of the film-making process from developing characters to set and costume, and sound design. We looked at inventive ways to make films in our home environment, including how to create interesting shots using a basic smartphone camera, as well as some of the things that can go wrong and ruin your film if you haven’t watched an amazing masterclass! Being able to hear from someone who works in the industry about her experience and the projects she has worked on was a brilliant opportunity that made everyone want to start making films. Thank you so much Michelle!”
