Parenting is tough. Parenting teenage girls, perhaps tougher. Parenting those teenage girls while locked down in the same house, navigating a global pandemic? Bit of a challenge.
In recognition of this, a number of parents attended our parenting through a pandemic sessions for prep and senior school, facilitated by the deputy head, pastoral, and school counsellor. The session explored how not forget your own emotional and mental health needs as parents while navigating the changing relationships with your daughters combined with an uncertain landscape. Reflections on your relationship with control, internal criticism and self-compassion, and the art of deep listening without judgement were discussed.
