Miranda Cook (class of 2019) has used the latest lockdown for self-reflection and cultivating new skills. Involvement in university life has given her purpose. She wrote, ‘I have found the sense of community, although not able to rival that of CLSG, has made myself and other students feel more connected and less isolated’.
Currently, Miranda's accomplishments range from raising money for Teenage Cancer Trust with her lacrosse team to keeping active with the ‘JustMove’ walking and photo challenge. Her commitment to walking and engaging with nature provided both the opportunity to enjoy the weather with an old friend from City and to make new connections. Some lambs at a farm she passed on her walks once came to greet her and now she takes time to visit them every day.
Inspired by Carol Ann Duffy’s City@6 Andrew Douglas Lecture, Miranda has written a poem, 'A new dawn', which she has submitted to Manchester Metropolitan University’s lockdown poetry archive.
