Great minds think alike in the City girl community. An alumna and a current student have both put their time during lockdown to good use with similar business projects. Their two jewellery ventures prove that an entrepreneurial spirit can flourish even with the limitations imposed by the pandemic.
Sarah Heaton (class of 1973) and her partner, Rodney J Rigby, have established a new joint venture: James Eade Limited. Focusing on the North American market, they design and make bespoke pieces engraved with family crests, shipping orders to several states. To find out more about the business and see examples their work, such as the diamond and pearl earrings Sarah is wearing above, visit their website or browse their gallery.
Similarly, CLSG student Nishka (year 11) has recently started her own jewellery business, realising a long-standing dream. She makes polymer clay earrings and sells them on Etsy. Nishka says that being a business owner has been both informative and rewarding – developing knowledge of managing finances, customer service, and effective self-promotion.
