On Tuesday 12 March, over 150 students, alumnae and staff performed in a spectacular music concert at the Barbican Centre. The concert celebrated 125 years of music at the school, as part of our anniversary celebrations.
The evening began with City Overture, a new piece of music created by Paul Griffiths, from the Guildhall School of Music, and our Music Scholars. The Senior Orchestra performed Prokofiev's Romeo and Juliet Suite No. 2 and the String Ensemble gave an excellent performance of Elgar's Enigma Variations: Nimrod. The second half of the concert began with Vaughn Williams' Fantasia on Greensleeves, led by conductor Alice Farnham, before Director of Music, Dr Berryman, took to the stage to conduct a full choir and orchestra for Vivaldi's Gloria.
