The Golden Hinde

On our way to the Golden Hinde, we walked for about half an hour through the city streets and across the Thames.  When we got there we had to put on our costumes; you could be an officer, the highest rank, then it was a barber surgeon, then it was a gunner.  I was a gunner, the stupidest of the stupid, but the bravest of the brave.  Even the teachers had to dress up!

Kingswood.
The Prep Department visited Kingswood from 13 to 15 June. The trip was full of exciting activities, such as archery and abseiling. The girls also participated in team and trust building activities, such as ‘Nightline’ where they went through a muddy obstacle course, blindfolded.

Preps at Hooke Court.
The Year 5's enjoyed a 3 day residential trip to Hooke Court, West Dorset. They enjoyed a range of outdoor team building games and activities and had a great time pretending to be servants in Victorian times. They enjoyed crafts, baking, parlour games and a tea party.

Sayers Croft.
On 19th
September, Year 7 went to Sayers Croft for a three day trip. We were excited about what was to come – we were told that we were going to do a lot of adventurous outdoor activities. This included rock climbing, orienteering, shelter building, high ropes, a 5 mile walk and team building activities.

Yorkshire Sculpture Park

On the 7th November, Sixth Form Art students visited the Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Wakefield. The Year 12 art theme for this term is natural world and ‘Take an object, do something to it, do something else to it’, as quoted by Jasper Johns. Several artists were presenting their work at the Park’s galleries and throughout the grounds. Just walking casually around before a tour, we stumbled across numerous man-made works blended into the landscape.

November, ten City girls visited Time Magazine’s European office, to see the inner workings of a global, political magazine. Our day started in a morning meeting with journalists discussing the main stories of the week. It was fascinating to get an insight into current affairs from the different perspectives that are considered when reporting a story.
