On 19th September, Year 7 went to Sayers Croft for a three day trip. We were excited about what was to come – we were told that we were going to do a lot of adventurous outdoor activities. This included rock climbing, orienteering, shelter building, high ropes, a 5 mile walk and team building activities.
The team building activities consisted of building towers of boxes (which is a very tricky job), solving puzzles, turning a sheet over while standing on it and many other fun and exhilarating things.
The 5 mile walk up Pitch Hill involved muddy trainers, sweaty feet, growls and grumbles and a whole lot of laughs! We went through fields full of horses and cows – one even charged us!
Rock climbing was a great experience for everyone. After we were attached to harnesses, we climbed up to the top of the wall. It was challenging for some people, but others found it easy. For those who found it easy, they were set a challenge - to only climb on the red rocks – which most found difficult to do.
High ropes was an obstacle course high amongst the trees. We were attached to a rope which was pulled by your partner and once you successfully completed the obstacle, you had to change to a different rope. For people who were afraid of heights, it was challenging and for most people a new experience. We really enjoyed Sayers Croft and hope that the future Year 7s do as well.
