Gymnastics

City's gymnasts can be seen during lunchtime training sessions tumbling through the air and perfecting team routines in the school's fully equipped gym. This energetic group have enjoyed success at various regional meets throughout 2008-9.

They also have performed for the school community during a Gym and Dance Display, held every 2 years. Girls from various age groups took part in this event which showcased their balance, poise and coordination through team and individual displays. 2008-9 Success:

On Saturday 15th November, a squad of ten U11 City gymnasts competed in the London Region U11 Novice gymnastics Championships. All girls put in a great performance and were delighted with the results. The A team came 2nd and the B team came 8th, competing against 15 teams.

In November, a squad of 17 City gymnasts competed in the London Region Carita House Floor, Vault and Group Championships. The U11 team won silver medals, while the U16 Floor, Vault and Group routine won gold medals, becoming London Champions. This qualified them for the Nationals, where they came 9th.

The Spring Term saw City gymnasts compete with great success in the Regional Schools Floor and Vault Championships and the Regional Schools Acrobatic Gymnastics Championships. In the former, U11 teams came 4th and 7th and the U13 team came 3rd. In the latter competition, the U13 team won bronze medals and the U19 teams came 4th and 7th.
