The Performing Arts at City are strong, offering students numerous opportunities for self-expression through music, art and drama. These subjects are taught throughout the school and everyone has the opportunity to participate in extracurricular plays and concerts.
City collaborates with the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and girls are regularly involved in joint productions and concerts with boys from the City of London School.
A huge variety of musical instruments is taught in school, and music lessons incorporate both traditional music-making and computer technology. Concert performances and musicals occur regularly, and girls of all ages are given the chance to perform.
Every taste is catered for, including classical, jazz, swing, modern, madrigals and barbershop groups.
Girls taking GSCE or A Level Drama give free performances in the purpose-built Black Box Studio, while junior and senior drama productions give enthusiastic amateurs an opportunity to perform.
There are also regular Music and Drama competitions between houses and forms which allow girls to work together to devise their own spectaculars.
