Sport is an integral part of life at all levels of the school.
We pride ourselves on the fact that there should be something for everyone, from team players aiming for excellence to clubs which play the odd fixture to recreational activites such as climbing. We believe in a philosophy of 'Sport for All' and enjoyment plays a large part in this too. Within the curriculum we aim to give girls a progressive programme which unfolds each year providing new challenges and an experience of different sports.

WHY IS PHYSICAL EDUCATION EXCITING AT CLSG?
We are proud of what we offer the pupils and the standards we achieve. We are proud also of the initiatives the girls themselves come up with and try to implement these too. We hope we can instill a love for sport and give pupils the confidence to try anything. 'Have a go' is our motto, you never know what you can achieve.
We have excellent sporting facilities on-site, including netball and tennis courts, an all weather pitch, a small but well equipped fitness room, a heated swimming pool and a brand new dance studio.
We also have the use of the City Boys School sports grounds for our Senior Sports Day.
We believe at the end of their time with us girls leave with the skills to carry on their sports, to try new ones and to follow a healthy lifestyle.
In Year 7 girls cover netball, gymnastics, dance, swimming, rounders, athletics and tennis. By Year 11 girls have covered water polo, synchronised swimming, lifesaving, volleyball, a health related fitness course, athletics, trampolining and football with the option to try sports such as zumba, tag rugby, cricket, cheerleading and climbing.
In the Sixth Form girls have a choice of sports they may wish to pursue and external teachers offer Zumba, Yoga and Pilates.
RECENT TRIPS / LEARNING ACTIVITIES
A number of experiences are offered when they arise, such as taking groups to see International Netball matches, Tennis at Wimbledon, Netball weekends to Shropshire and PE conferences. An annual trip to Devon takes place for pupils in Year 7 and 8 to experience adventurous activities such as surfing, kayaking and climbing. We also invite outside dance companies to come in and take workshops for the pupils in the Prep School and the Senior School in view to our biannual Gym and Dance Showcase.
All this is in addition to a full and broad extra curricular programme.
