ADMISSION TO THE PREPARATORY DEPARTMENT

For admission to the Preparatory Department, a girl must have attained the age of seven before 1st September in the year of entry. The entrance examination is taken in the November prior to entering the school the following September. The test consists of reading, spelling, reasoning, story writing and mathematics. Tests are age standardised and past papers are not available. Selected potential entrants are also invited to take part in practical activities. We aim to recognise the child’s potential for a successful academic career at the school. The Preparatory Department is a one-form entry. With very few exceptions, girls are admitted to Senior School from the Preparatory Department after taking the 11+ examinations. Scholarships and Awards are not available to girls in the Preparatory Department.
Parents of children who require any additional support during the assessment process will be asked to share any relevant reports e.g. an Educational Psychologist's report at the time of their application. If a girl, who has a history of specific learning difficulties, is successful in being offered a place, parents should be aware although SENCo advice is discussed with class teachers, one to one sessions with qualified SENCos are limited to approximately 30 minutes each week per individual student.

It is also possible to register a candidate using a paper form which can be obtained by contacting the Admissions Officer. Please complete the registration form and return it to the Admissions Officer, together with the non-returnable registration fee of £90.00 by Friday 11th October 2013 at the latest.
A reference will be requested from the Head of your daughter's current school prior to the entrance test.
