The end of year is an emotional experience, especially for girls in the Upper Sixth, for whom it marks the end of their days at City. The warmth and affection they have for the school, their teachers and their friends shows clearly in their end of year celebrations.

The majority of girls will continue their studies at university, art college or music conservatoire level, amongst which Oxford, Cambridge, Leeds, Bristol and Edinburgh prove popular destinations. Many defer university and take a gap year to travel, study or work abroad.

City of London School for Girls was founded in 1894 by William Ward, a forward thinking gentleman who left a provision in his will to the City of London, to fund the foundation of a girls' school. Since these early days, links with the City of London Corporation have remained strong. The school's Board of Governors is appointed by the Court of Common Council and the school itself continues to be administered by the City of London Corporation.
