Scrooge: the Musical

Scrooge: The Musical, was a huge success. The spectacular musical extravaganza was a heartwarming family story based on Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol and inspired Christmas cheer into the entire school community!

Trip to CERN
In February, City's Physics students joined forces with the Physics Department at City of London School (CLS) and invaded Switzerland to learn more about particle accelerators at CERN, the home of the world’s largest machine, the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) and the birthplace of the World Wide Web.


Spanish Scholarship

A City student has been selected as the UK representative for the prestigious Ruta Quetzal Spanish scholarship. King Juan Carlos of Spain established the scheme to unite Spanish-speaking students from around the world. Jessica will join 360 students from over 50 countries in Europe, Asia, Africa and America on a 6 week trip through Panama and regions of Spain.

Deloitte Scholars

Two City students have been selected for the Deloitte Scholarship Programme. This is Juliana's story...

"When I first heard of a GAP year in Year 10, I was instantly drawn to the idea. However, my parents had never wanted me to take a year off, and it seemed it might remain an unfulfilled wish. About a year ago, Deloitte came to speak at City about their gap year program. It was the perfect solution as scheme gives you 30 weeks paid work, travelling grants and £1,500 per year at university.

Studying Black Holes
Professor Ehud Behar who is a leading scientist in X-Ray spectroscopy, based in the Technion Institute of Technology, Israel, took time out from his busy sabbatical to talk to some of the Year 11 and 12 girls about Black Holes.


Holocaust Memorial
On Monday 28th January, 2008 City girls presented a special Holocaust Memorial Assembly, commemorating the anniversary of the liberation of the Auschwitz concentration camp. On Tuesday 29th January, City was honoured to have Lord Janner of Braunstone QC speak with girls in the senior school.


Opening of Sixth Form Centre

City has opened the doors to a new Sixth Form Centre.  The centre was officially opened by Mr Richard Regan, Chairman of the Board of Governors on 16^th January, 2008.

Cyclevision
Sixth Form students from City have won the top prize in the 2007 ‘Make Your Mark Challenge’ . The girls won the College category of the competition, demonstrating their finesse as the next generation of socially minded entrepreneurs.


A Really Big Cheque
A cheque totalling £20,532.28 was given to representatives of the Tuberous Sclerosis Association (TSA) by City's Mission Society.


Christmas

The Christmas season is always an exciting period. Girls celebrated the festive season by carolling, raising money and sharing their time with senior members of the community.
