Set within the Barbican complex within the heart of the City of London, pupils and teachers alike exploit to the full the cultural, architectural, historical and intellectual richness the school’s location affords. However, the school originally started 114 years ago with 53 pupils in Carmelite Street when little importance was placed on female education.
