Sixth Form Curriculum
By
Jan 8, 2008 - 7:32:12 AM
Sixth Form students follow a broad curriculum, normally studying up to 5 AS levels and leading on to 3 or 4 A2 levels in the Upper Sixth. The Sixth Form timetable is arranged to accommodate a great number of subject combinations, including a mix of arts and science subjects.
To counterbalance the academic focus of AS/A2 level studies, General Studies gives the girls the choice of pursuing a wide range of interests including cookery, First Aid and photography. Each girl arranges her own community service on a weekly basis, working with organisations such as, primary schools, crèches and hospitals. This is reinforced by an extensive range of extra-curricular activities. There is a weekly tutorial programme run by tutors and outside experts. This covers Personal, Social and Health Education, careers and higher education advice and guidance, as well as tutor monitoring of girls’ overall academic progress. We have an extensive programme of distinguished speakers who speak to the girls. In recent months they have included Professor Lord Robert Winston, Lord Janner
of Braunstone QC,
Boris Johnston, author Jodi Picoult, historian Dr David Starkey and Cherie Booth (QC).
