Overview

The Lower School comprises Years 7 and 8. The girls study a wide range of subjects, including sciences, 2 modern foreign languages, humanities and a full programme of creative subjects, that are all supplemented by visits outside the classroom.

Girls come to City from a wide variety of schools and we therefore have a full induction programme to ensure all girls settle in well. This includes a 3 day residential trip in their first few weeks at school. There is a strong pastoral support network at school and parents and girls are encouraged to bring any concerns they may have to the Lower School Team.

Curriculum

The girls study a wide range of subjects including the core subjects of Maths, English, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Girls choose 2 modern foreign languages and begin Latin in Year 8. Geography, History and Religious Studies are supplemented by visits outside the classroom and there is a full programme of creative subjects including Art, Design and Technology, Drama and Music. PE and ICT are also integral parts of the timetable.
