House Debating

Senior House Debating has been an even bigger success than usual this year.  Many more sixth formers have been getting involved and enjoyed arguing with each other in front of people every week as they battle through the challenging debates.  

There have been many thought provoking motions this term, such as “This House Would Legalise Brothels,” Other themes this term have included “This house would make council tenants find work or loose their homes”, another motion which produced much lively, even heated, discussion.  The girls have also covered a wide range of current affairs including “This house would not allow the Olympic Games to pass to countries with oppressive regimes” and “This house would build on London’s green spaces”.         

As the weeks have progressed, there has been a great improvement in the standard and style of debating.   City girls are never short of an opinion and readily accept the challenge of a good argument!
