Mission

The school’s Mission committee are a team of Sixth Form students, assisted by a member of staff. They are responsible for the dynamic programme of charity events, which, at the end of the year, goes towards a chosen charity. The committee help the remaining student community to select the main charity for the year by developing a short listing of charities, presenting them to the school and the school voting for their preferred charity.

This Year: St tudents have selected the Kids Company charity and have already started their fundraising efforts with a bang. Students sang carols at Fenchurch Street Station and raised an impressive £822.

Mission cheque to TSA
Last Year: City girls selected The Tuberous Sclerosis Association (TSA) as the focus for the school’s main fundraising activities for academic year ending in 2007. The girls fundraising efforts were innovative and produced tremendous results. The programme included a sponsored walk, staff ‘University Challenge’, concerts, ‘Dress Up’ day in the theme of a book character and a talent show. Girls organised bake sales every week during break time, and a group of girls celebrated the Chinese New Year by making and selling oriental snacks. At Christmas, a choir sang carols at Fenchurch Street Station.

In December, City gave the TSA a cheque for £20,532.28 - the highest amount raised in the history of the school!

The girls have also supported other causes, such as Jeans for Genes Day, Pink Day, Red Nose Day for Comic Relief and organised donations for an annual harvest festival.
Previous Years: In May 2007, the Mission committee presented a cheque for £16,346.58 to the Medical Aid for Iraqi Children (MAIC), the chosen charity for 2005-2006. The charity’s representative congratulated the girls in assembly on their wonderful achievement and showed a particularly moving film which illustrated how and why MAIC works in Iraq.
